Let us view marital life from this viewpoint for marriage is not a bed of roses but a domestic battlefield. Unless husband and wife bring immense goodwill and sacrifice to bear upon their marital fortunes, their situation is desperate. The DVA need to be replaced by some more benign, sensible, gender-neutral legislation that may ensure women their rightful, honorable place at home and abroad, at the same time not forgetting the rights of men.β

Former Zilla Parishad chief blames her for denial of party ticket
KHAMMAM: Former Chairman of Khammam Zilla Parishad and Congress leader, Chanda Lingaiah has said he would contest for the Khammam parliamentary constituency.
He informed the media persons that he got offer from important political parties.
But "I am not interested in contesting on the ticket of any other political party.
I wanted to be in the fray as the Congress party candidate. Since it did not happen, I have made up my mind to contest as the Congress rebel."
He in fact planned for contesting from the Pinapaka (ST) constituency on the Congress party ticket.
He blamed Renuka Chowdhury, Union Minister of State for Woman and Child Development for denial of party ticket.
"I had served the Congress party for 30-long years by giving up a top ranking government job. I had been loyal to the Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy in the State and Sambhani Chandrasekhar in the district" he said.
But neither of the two could come to his rescue.
He said he would seek the support Tudum Debba, Adivasi Samkshema Parishad and organisations representing weaker sections including Dandora and Malamahanadu and make it a battle of haves and have nots.
"I am born and brought up in Khammam and I have every right to seek nomination from the constituency", he said.
In the meantime, Congress party workers from Madiga community locked the district Congress office demanding Madhira seat for the community.
They threatened to launch protest if the party leadership failed to concede the demand.
