This article is made to acknowledge Indian Men, Section 498 (A) of the Indian Penal Code makes it mandatory for the police to book the husband and his parents and other relatives/friends, which has become highly misusage in urban India. NO JOKES! IT’S PARENTS/SISTERS INSIDE THE Jail.

Under this section Case is non-bailable (no bail from police) non-compoundable (no taken back complaint), cognizable (no warrants or inquiry to arrest).

There are numerous cases where Parents getting jailed, even, Wife stayed only few days (NOT MONTHS) with in-laws in several years(>4yrs..) of marriage.

One can be dangerously trapped, there are CHANCES that one end up loosing his parents or someone from his side OR INTO DEPRESSION because of this. Youngsters, if your parent’s are illiterate or do not have knowledge about this LAW, SINCERELY CAUTION YOU, BEWARE and acknowledge yourself and your parents before marriage, else one may possibly gets trapped inside criminal complaint almost as powerful as a felony.
Current Suicide rates in India:

For males in the age group of 30 to 44, the Suicide rate is a whopping 508 per 100,000 persons; for women it is 220. The Suicide rate among men in the age group of 45 to 59 is a shocking 1,812 per 100,000 persons and among women, nearly 550. So much more people are dying due to SOWRY (reverse of DOWRY) harassment than the DOWRY harassment.

However, among divorced males the suicide rate is 164 per 100,000 persons, but even in this class, among females the rate is only 63 per 100,000. While the suicide rate for separated men is about 167, for females it is only 41 per 100,000 persons.

Above statistics are surprising but is reality. Culturally India is very inclined/respected/supportive to women and the advantage taken by women organizations.

I believe,this is a BIAS law for marriages, clearly attacking Human Rights, fundamental rights-art.14(Right to equality). Deadliest one perhaps affecting the appropriate Societal Development of India and also stands powerful cause disturbed or aberrations in the family.

This section has become EPIDEMIC of mis-usage in urban india. With Current Indian laws and system, Getting into Indian marriage is ‘ABHIMANYU's PADMAVUYA’. One easily gets into a BIG TRAP, I repeat VERY BIG TRAP, if spouse is BAD in NATURE. Today, there is hardly few divorces, without 498A case being filed on in-laws/husband.
The only ways to escape is re-thinking about marriage or prove innocence in the court as defendent, for which court case easily goes more than 2 yrs., as per current case status. Citing a rule that the service of an employee who remained in police custody for more than 24 hours would be terminated.

These sections were passed around 1980’s perhaps suited to that decade. Generation changed, Girls changed, 498A SHOULD BE AMENDED OR POSSIBLY INDIA HEADING TOWARDS COMPLETE IR-REPAIRABLE DAMAGE, in terms of societal BUILT-UP.
Most NRIs and highly paid salary people are becoming usual excellent pray/targets. For NRIs most cases ends with 15lkhs – 30lkhs compensation. This has grown since 1996.
I believe, In Educated India, if Women intention is to RULE FAMILY, making husband hen-pecked, It is easily possible using this section as blackmail. Statistics showed, Married Educated Men weaker than the married educated women in Pysical, Mental & social life after their 30s. If a youngster notice married Indian men calmly, one may see men look weaker/stressed with bellies.

In Developed nations Men shines as much as women (may be more..), though women are compared to beauty.
In other words, I believe, this law made Marriages into a BAD Business in India.
Young men- think & solve your own way till DOMESTIC LAWS (CIVIL LAWS INTRODUCTION and 498A repealed or appropriated) GET MENDED in our country.
HEALTH IS WEALTH, THINK RISKING INSIDE AN INDIAN MARRIAGE DUE TO ONE’S KARMA.
We know things happen the way we think and take steps.

( If one notices abnormal behavior pattern from his educated wife (harming in nature distinctly/timingly). Analyze and examine, whether her attitude built-up is related to her knowledge of this section through her parents or someone. The earlier, one detects, best to come out of that marriage or otherwise one faces harassment for long run and ends up in physical/psychological diseases. If one’s wife knows about this law/section prior to her marriage, what common sense says…..?!! )
